Light, sometimes too little or the opposite

For users of insulin pens, there is sometimes too little light or the opposite, too much light.

Injections in dark settings

You have probably tried to take your insulin in a place where the lighting was weak. Our user surveys (2013 and 2014) indicate that 50 % of users of insulin pens regularly inject insulin in dark settings.

The DUKADA Trio Needle Light makes it easier to take insulin where the light is reduced.

Injections in Sunlight

Read here what our UK distributor (www.diabetes.co.uk) writes about the storage and safety of insulin:

  • Never store insulin at very cold or very hot temperatures as extreme temperatures destroy insulin.
  • Do not put your insulin in the freezer or in direct sunlight

With different wordings, all insulin producers advise users of insulin pens to put the pen cap on your pen after each use to protect the insulin from light. This recommendation is not changed by the usage of DUKADA Trio.

However, the DUKADA Trio divisible Cap protects the insulin container better against light during injections.

Whereas the original caps are entirely removed from the insulin pen during injections, the Main Part of the  DUKADA Cap stays on the pen during these.

Since the main part of the DUKADA Cap covers most of the insulin container, it is safe to conclude that the DUKADA Trio Cap protects the insulin container better from UV-Light during injections than the original pen caps.

For more details read our FAQ on DUKADA Trio and the protection from UV-Light.
